Your 5 Tiny French Moments
🌞 WEDNESDAY - Morning Moment
“On va à la piscine.” (We’re going to the pool.)
Say it while packing the pool bag, putting on swimsuits, or finding the missing flip-flop that was definitely right there.
Then let your child repeat just one word: “piscine”. That counts.
Pronunciation: ohn vah ah lah pee-seen
🍽️ THURSDAY - Dinner Phrase
“Tu as soif ?” (Are you thirsty?)
Use this at dinner, after pool time, or while filling a water bottle.
Hold up the cup and ask, “Tu as soif ?” Your child can answer with a nod, “oui”, or “non”. Easy, useful, done.
Pronunciation: too ah swahf
🎲 FRIDAY - Play Moment
“Doucement.” (Gently / slowly.)
This is a helpful little word for splashy play, towel forts, or any moment that is getting a little too wild.
Say “doucement” in a soft, slow voice while moving your hands slowly. Make it feel like a game, not a correction.
Pronunciation: doo-suh-mahn
❤️ SATURDAY - Connection Phrase
“Reste ici, s’il te plaît.” (Stay here, please.)
Use this as a calm closeness phrase: at the pool bag, by your chair, near the towel, or while waiting.
You can point near you and say “reste ici, s’il te plaît.”
Pronunciation: rest ee-see, seel tuh pleh
🌸 SUNDAY - Seasonal Spark
“Attention, l’eau !” (Careful, water!)
Use this when you see puddles, sprinklers, pool steps, wet swimsuits, or the tiny lake that appears in the bathroom after bath time.
Say it playfully and point: “Attention, l’eau !”
Pronunciation: ah-tahn-see-ohn, loh
