Hi mama,

Picnic season has a very specific kind of magic.

A blanket that never lays flat.
One child who is suddenly starving.
One child who only wants to chase a squirrel.
Crumbs everywhere.

Perfect conditions for tiny French.

This week is all about bringing French outside in the easiest way possible: at the park, in the backyard, on a picnic blanket, or even during a “picnic” on the living room floor.

Five tiny moments, under 10 minutes. Nothing fancy. This counts.

Your 5 Tiny French Moments

🌞 WEDNESDAY - Morning Moment

“On va au parc ?” (Are we going to the park?)

Say it while packing a snack, finding shoes, or walking to the car. You can make it playful by asking with an excited little “question voice,” then answering together: “Oui !”
If the park is not happening today, use it for the backyard, a walk, or pretend picnic plans.

Pronunciation: ohn vah oh park?

🍽️ THURSDAY - Dinner Phrase

“Tu veux de l’eau ?” (Do you want some water?)

Use this at dinner, snack time, or during a picnic break. Hold up a cup or water bottle and ask: “Tu veux de l’eau ?”
Your child can answer with a nod, “oui”, or “non”.

Pronunciation: too vuh duh loh?

🎲 FRIDAY - Play Moment

“Je lance !” (I’m throwing!)

Use this during a ball toss, frisbee toss, beanbag game, or even a crumpled-paper “picnic basket” toss at home. Before you throw, say: “Je lance !”
Then let your child copy you before their turn. Simple, active, and easy to repeat.

Pronunciation: jhuh lahns!

❤️ SATURDAY - Connection Phrase

“Viens ici.” (Come here.)

Use it softly when you want your child close: to sit on the blanket, look at something cute, or share a snack. Keep your voice warm and gentle.
You can add a little pat on the blanket beside you.

Pronunciation: vyan ee-see

🌸 SUNDAY - Seasonal Spark

“Voilà le parc !” (Here is the park!)

Say it when you arrive at the park, see a picnic table, spot the playground, or even set up a blanket outside. It gives a tiny “French tada” to an ordinary moment.
You can point as you say it: “Voilà le parc !”

Pronunciation: vwah-lah luh park!

No-Pressure Tip of the Week

Outdoor French can be a little messy, wiggly, and snack-covered. That is not a problem. That is the whole point.

One phrase said with joy is enough.
