Hi mama,

Sometimes the sweetest language moments happen when nobody is trying very hard.

A phrase at breakfast.
A little repeat in the car.
A tiny laugh at dinner.

That is enough, as long as it is during a family moment.
This week gives you 5 tiny moments, under 10 minutes, to make French feel a little more at home in your home.

Your 5 Tiny French Moments

🌞 WEDNESDAY - Morning Moment

“Bonjour, ma famille !” (Hello, my family!)

Try this one when everyone is still sleepy and shuffling into the kitchen. Say it with a smile when you open the curtains, pour cereal, or gather backpacks by the door. Then invite your child to say it back in their own silly or sweet voice.

You can also point to each person and say: “Bonjour, maman,” “Bonjour, papa,” or a sibling’s name.

Pronunciation: bohn-joor, mah fah-meey

🍽️ THURSDAY - Dinner Phrase

“On mange en famille.” (We eat as a family.)

Use this at the table right before everyone starts eating. You do not need a perfect family dinner moment for this to count. Pizza night counts. Leftovers count. One kid upside down on the chair probably counts too.

Say the phrase once, then tap the table gently and repeat it together. Keep it cozy and casual.

Pronunciation: ohn mahnjh ahn fah-meey

🎲 FRIDAY - Play Moment

“C’est mon frère.” / “C’est ma sœur.” (That’s my brother. / That’s my sister.)

During playtime, look at family drawings, toy figures, or photos on your phone and name people simply. If your child is an only child, use “C’est ma maman” or “C’est mon papa” instead.

Keep it playful. Point, name, smile, repeat. That is the whole activity.

Pronunciation: say mohn frehr / say mah sur

❤️ SATURDAY - Connection Phrase

“Je t’aime, ma famille.” (I love you, my family.)

This one is soft and simple. Say it during a cuddle, while brushing hair, on the couch, or at bedtime. No big speech needed. Just one little sentence that makes French feel warm.

You can place a hand on your heart or do a group hug if your family is into that.

Pronunciation: jhuh tem, mah fah-meey

🌸 SUNDAY - Seasonal Spark

“Qui est là ?” (Who is here?)
“Mamie est là.” / “Papi est là.” (Grandma is here. / Grandpa is here.)

If you are seeing family, calling grandparents, or just looking at old photos, use this tiny question-and-answer game. Ask “Qui est là ?” and answer with a family member’s name. It works in the car, on the couch, or while flipping through pictures.

Simple, sweet, and very easy to repeat.

Pronunciation: kee ay lah? / mah-mee ay lah / pah-pee ay lah

No-Pressure Tip of the Week

You do not need everyone to join in.
One child listening counts.
One phrase repeated twice counts.
Tiny moments matter because they are tiny enough to keep.
