Hi mama,
Some weeks feel a little extra full.
Someone is tired. Someone is cranky. Usually, it is everyone.
This week, we are keeping French soft and simple.
No big lesson. No perfect pronunciation needed.
Just 5 tiny moments, under 10 minutes.
These are the kinds of phrases that fit right into real family life.
And yes, even the messy moments count.
Your 5 Tiny French Moments
🌞 WEDNESDAY - Morning Moment
“Comment tu te sens ?” (How do you feel?)
“Je me sens bien.” / “fatigué(e).” / “calme.” (I feel good. / tired. / calm.)
At breakfast or in the car, ask one simple question: “Comment tu te sens ?”
Let your child answer with one feeling word, or you can model it first.
You can go first too: “Je me sens fatiguée” if it was a long night.
That little check-in makes French feel useful right away.
Pronunciation: koh-mahn tyuh tuh sahn / juh muh sahn byan / juh muh sahn fah-tee-gay / juh muh sahn kahlm
🍽️ THURSDAY - Dinner Phrase
“Ça va ?” (Are you okay? / How’s it going?)
“Ça va bien.” / “Comme ci, comme ça.” (I’m good. / So-so.)
At dinner, go around the table with one tiny French check-in.
Each person answers in just a few words.
You do not need a full conversation.
A quick “Ça va ?” is enough to make the meal feel warm and shared.
Pronunciation: sah vah / sah vah byan / kohm see, kohm sah
🎲 FRIDAY - Play Moment
“On souffle.” (Let’s breathe.)
“Encore une fois.” (One more time.)
Turn calm-down language into a game.
Take one big breath together and say “On souffle.”
Then do it again with teddy bears, dolls, or race cars taking “calm breaths” too.
Finish with “Encore une fois” and one last big, dramatic exhale.
Pronunciation: ohn soofl / ahn-kor ewn fwah
❤️ SATURDAY - Connection Phrase
“Je suis là.” (I’m here.)
“Tu veux un câlin ?” (Do you want a hug?)
Use this one during a hard moment or a quiet one.
When your child feels wobbly, upset, or just clingy, try “Je suis là.”
Then offer “Tu veux un câlin ?” if that fits your family.
It is simple, loving, and very easy to remember.
Pronunciation: juh swee lah / tuh vuh uh(n) kah-lan
🌸 SUNDAY - Seasonal Spark
“C’est calme.” (It’s calm.)
“J’écoute.” (I’m listening.)
Step outside for two minutes, or pause by an open window.
Listen for birds, wind, cars, or leaves.
Say “C’est calme” if it feels peaceful, or just whisper “J’écoute” together.
This one is lovely at the end of a busy week.
Pronunciation: say kahlm / jay-koot
